THE VBGA
Membership
in the Vicksburg Licensed Battlefield Guide
Association is limited to those who have been
certified by the Vicksburg National Military Park as
guides, through the Park's examination and licensing
process.
You
don't have to be a member of VBGA to be a licensed
guide for the Vicksburg National Military Park.
But,
as they say, membership has its privileges.
Dues are $25 a year.
Our meetings are bimonthly during the non-summer
months and feature interesting information from park
officials and historians that strengthen the quality
of our tours.
Our meetings and this
web site are designed to provide additional training
and learning experiences for current and prospective
guides.

BECOME
A GUIDE |

To
become a licensed Vicksburg Battlefield
Guide, applicants must pass a very thorough
written examination on the Civil War and, in
particular, the campaigns and Siege of
Vicksburg given by the Park team.
Those who pass the written exam must also
pass an oral exam: an actual tour given to a
park ranger or historian.
To
help prepare candidates for the process,
Vicksburg National Military Park provides
prepared bibliographies, research materials,
and a series of seminars over several
months.
This web site
also provides online, free training
opportunities for current and prospective
guides.
